Barbula luteola (Mitt.) Paris is an invalid combination because it was cited as a synonym of Barbula pseudopilifera. However, Catcheside (1980: 182) treated it as a species different from Barbula crinita (of which B. pseudopilifera is a synonym) which validated the name.
